Anniversary and Colorado Omar park homes attract constant flow of visitors

The Motorhome & Caravan Show proved to be a fantastic end to the show season for Omar who draw to the end of their 50thAnniversary year. On display, and attracting a constant flow of visitors, the award winning Anniversary and long-standing Colorado park homes delighted show goers and introduced the idea of park home living to many.

As the UK’s biggest motorhome and caravanning event, the Motorhome & Caravan Show saw just under 100,000 visitors through the doors over the six days it was open and with so much to see and do, it comes as no surprise that the event is so popular.  Attracting old and young alike, visitors flocked to see and compare the latest models; get advice on all aspects of the industry from finance to security and research and book their 2016 holidays.  The show even managed a Guinness World Record title with the largest ever caravan made from LEGO® bricks unveiled!

Designed in celebration of Omar’s 50th Anniversary and voted by the public as winner of Park Home of the Year 2015; the Anniversary park home was exceptionally well received.

Peter Berwick, Omar’s Sales & Design Director commented: “The Anniversary brings with it a completely new concept in layout and interior design, providing lifestyle options and flexibility.  Folding doors give the option to open up the living space or to have separate rooms; there’s a light and bright sun-room that could act as a dining room; the master bedroom provides practical areas and the en-suite has a bath and a separate shower, providing even more choice.  These lifestyle options were embraced, and when talking to visitors, they all had their own individual views on how they would use the space.  We’re delighted that the Anniversary has yet again been so well received.”

The 50’ x 22’ Anniversary home displayed has been sold. For more information on this home please call 01842 810 673 or visit

Equally as popular with show-goers was the Colorado, Omar’s most long-standing signature home (the silhouette of which features in Omar’s distinctive logo).

Tom Conman, Area Sales Manager (north) for Omar commented: “The Colorado is a timeless classic and never ceases to impress.  Visitors loved the distinctive arched windows, practical layout and contemporary interior design. The soft colour scheme of oyster, mink, taupe and eggshell blues was also particularly popular with visitors commenting on what a relaxed ambience it created.”

The 42’ x 20’ Colorado park home displayed has been pre-sold to Birch’s Group and will be sited at Park Lane, Godmanchester –  available for sale sited at £204,500.  For more information please call 0845 555 4545 or visit

Summing up the show Omar’s Chief Executive, Dean Westmoreland commented: “The Motorhome & Caravan Show provides us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase the design, quality and options available of our homes to the general public. It’s not just about showcasing the homes though; for many, park home living is a whole new concept.  We were joined by a number of parks on the stand who were able to explain the benefits of this lifestyle. With the number of beautiful, well-run parks up and down the country growing and with such a variety of choice, not just in park but also in home, it comes as no surprise that this way of living continues to grow in popularity.”

Park Homes & Biscuits

Refali logo

Like most of us I suspect I am sometimes left a little baffled by the ever changing world we live in and the pace of
change we all seem to have to cope with these days. However, I think most of us would agree that in our life times
some truly astonishing things have been achieved. I once asked my mother why we only ever had plain digestive
biscuits in the tin why not chocolate? She answered that if she bought chocolate biscuits I would only eat them and
would not want the familiar plain biscuits I had always known. I have to confess it was not the reply I was hoping
for,I also suspect her legendary skill in making a pound go further than anyone I have ever known had something to
do with it.

Having recently attended a large Park Home show with my team to sell our heat pump systems we were a little
taken aback by some of the responses we received from the manufacturers of park homes.
When we suggested that you could have cooling and heating on a park home with one piece of unobtrusive
equipment outside, the ability to set different temperatures in each room to suite the occupant, add to this a 4 to 1
energy consumption( 4kw of heating for 1kw of electricity consumed) we were met with various responses ranging
from ” yeah right, and one day a man will walk on the moon!”to surprised interest among the more enlightened and
I have to say smaller younger manufacturers.

I sensed that some people thought us snake charmers peddling some dark mysterious heresy and others clearly
thought, we’ve offered our customers digestives for 20 years if we show them chocolate they’ll only want it, I other
words, we don’t want to bother them with new fangled technology.

Heat pump technology has been around in its current form for about 20 years and the beginnings of this technology
go back 40 or more so it’s not exactly a flash in the pan. Having been in this type of business for 40 years myself I
have watched this technology be steadily refined into the truly remarkable product it is today.
As in most things it took the Japanese to take this technology and make it what it is today, with the likes of
Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu, Hitachi and a host of others leading the way.

It has been suggested to me on some occasions that this must be smoke and mirrors and the old adage, if it looks
too good to be true it probably is, has been proffered and I can understand that to a degree. What I can tell you is
that having dealt with these manufacturers in one capacity or another and having visited their factories in Japan they
leave no stone unturned when it comes to development and testing. In other words, it does what it says on the tin.

Millions of heat pumps are sold every year around the world being used in offices, houses, shops you name it so why
not Park homes? To ignore this technology in this growing market in the 21st century, now that really would take the

Find the cheapest supermarket

Untitled design (1)

Steve Rowe looks at the website which helps you to compare supermarket prices, to find the cheapest place to buy your groceries (original article is featured in October’s edition of Park Home & Holiday Caravan Magazine).

What is it?  This is an independent website which aims to help you save money on your grocery shopping. It works by collecting prices of goods daily from the UK’s main supermarkets, so that it can compare prices as well as promotions and discounts on products.

How does it work?  You use the site by selecting a supermarket you would like to shop online from and then filling up your virtual basket as you would usually do when shopping online. The website will compare the products in your basket while you are shopping and let you know if you would save money on your goods by changing to another supermarket. If you don’t want to change supermarket the website will also tell you the alternatives you could buy at the same supermarket to save your money.

How can I get the best from it?  The website claims that it can save shoppers up top 30% on their regular shop, by choosing the cheapest supermarket for their chosen products and by suggesting cheaper alternatives. The website also has a scheme called SHOPS, where you can buy high quality groceries from independent shops all over the UK.
